Windows

Windows are so cool. They keep the cold breeze off you. And like glases there little windows that protect your precious eyes from the sun.Windows also keep bad people jumping thew them .. So be smart and get windows, well every house and car should have some anyway. So you're watching tv and then you see this man walking past in the corner of your eye. Then he stops and turns around looking directly glancing at you .. You turn quickly ..Theres this weird old man looking at you .You get the shivers whats her looking at hes thinking in his head ..The man started walking closer.A shiver dashed down my spine naturally he was still walking towards me .I didn't know what to do. What do I do ??.Do I start talking to him ?Do I chuck stuff at him ? Oh man as he was using his mind to think he quickly the window he said the man charged at him ..He smashed the window shut. The sound of the window smashing against the wood the dog jumped up and saw the man, the man saw the dog. As he started slowly walking back the dog charged at him he gapped it. The dog chased him down the road. Since then I never seen my dog and the man ever again ..I got a new dog anyway . And I got new window's that can never break ...

bp challenge

For hot learning, our class had a huge brainstorm for what we would do for our inquiry. We all gave the teacher our ideas and mrs phillips took all the ideas that we could have and we voted for the ones that we wanted,in the end, mrs phillips split all of us into the groups that we wanted to be in.There were many things to choose from, including photography, wonders of the world and much more.Alex, Morgan, Sophie, Adana and I chose to be in the bp challenge group. This includes doing many bp challenges an also researching about flight. We are working on a bp challenge at the moment
that will allow us to compete with other schools. this is what we have to do. Our task is to design an aeroplane from any materials we like but there is a catch!
it must use a propeller and wheels that the teacher has provided and it it must use a/some rubber bands to power the propeller.

The things we are going to use are:

Balsa wood
some rubber bands
the wheels
the propeller
some polystyrene
toothpicks
and maybe even a parachute!!

This is going to be an awesome experience.

H.O.T Learning

For H.O.T Learning we got to suggest ideas that might be good for creativity. Creativity is our concept this term.. Catilin, Morgan RB, Amy, Phoebe and I chose to do fashion designing. We need to design a dress for the Rugby World Cup 2011. One of our W.A.L.T's is to evaluate a pattern using the De Bono's thinking hats.
Mrs. Phillips showed us some of her dresses for us to look at. Here are some for you to look at.

Our new math program!

In our class we now have a new math program. Now we all do group maths first then have a sharing session, In the sharing session Mrs Phillips pulls three names out of a bag and those three people have to share a math question they found hard and strategie they used to fix it. After that we do the top 20 which is 20 basic fact questions that people try and do as FAST as they can!
I'm in the top 60 club which means I have to do 80 masic fact questions in the same time people do 20 basic fact questions! Oh every time people complete 20 questions and stand up before everyone is finished and got them all correct. They would get a tick by their name, If they did the same thing the next day they would get another tick beside there name and they would be in the top 20 club! Which means they would now have to do 40 questions in the time people do 20!
Its kinda confusing but its REALLY fun! :)

Snowy fractions!

Today maths was a bit different, Because of all the snow we decided we would do fractions outside! So we all had groups of three and got a couple of sponges, a syringe and a cup of food colouring. Mrs Phillips would yell out a fraction and one person from each group would have to either use the syringe or sponge to draw one way of showing it! After that we had to make a snow pile, half it then quarter one of the halfs, Then we had to make a snow stucture with those fractions and mark which fraction it was!
It was so cold but so much fun!

We tested it against jiff. We left it on the carpet and lino over night to see what would happen, it was dried when we looked at it the next day, we washed it off with 2mls of water, a dry cloth and toilet paper.
Our cleaner did'nt work on any of the stains, the jiff took the coffee and red ink off the lino only.

Pom-Pom creatures

We have been working on somethings called pom-pom creatures.
Our first step was:
1. Cut out 2 cardboard circles with holes in the middle that were the right size we needed.
2. Second we got the colour wool that we wanted and we put the 2 pieces of cardboard together then started winding the wool around the cardboard circles-this took a while!
3.After we had wound the wool around 14-15 times we cut between the middle of the 2 circles and tied it tightly with a piece of string
4. DECORATION TIME!!!,we decorated the creature so it looked like an animal of our choice.

Caitlin's advertising

In the class at the moment we are working on advertising, We all got given a product or a company, Now we have to re-create the logo, slogan, jingle and if it's a drink or food flavour! I got given 'Powerade' and have to create a new flavour. I have decided to call it 'Imortal force' it will be a toxic green colour and taste like sour melon, (Don't worry it's already a flavour in Australia so it won't taste as bad as it sounds)

Jenna's Accident!

I was on the slide at the Esplinade in Palmerston North. A little kid came up from underneath me and knocked me off. I had to walk all the way back to the hockey turf to find my mum because I was with a friend. I was really brave and I didn't even cry.
I have snapped my raduis bone and cracked my ulna bone. It hurts a bit.
Hopefully I haven't started the Room 7 curse again!

Mr Gum and the Cherry Tree- an analysis by Declan

Good evening and welcome to a tale of forests! Of legendary beasts! Of dreadful villains! Of caterpillars called Graham! And of a great big BEEFER of a cherry tree! But what dark secrets are hidden in that tree, where the leaves grow thick and green? Polly intends to find out by finding out. What will she find out? Find out by reading this book and you'll find out!

It started off in a town called Lamonic Bibber,it was all quiet until old granny came shouting down the street "THE OLD WAYS ARE BACK!"
Every body gathered around Old Granny and she shouted again "THE OLD WAYS ARE BACK!" Suddenly she said, "FOLLOW ME AND I WILL SHOW YOU, COME ON LETS GO"
And so they did chanting all the way "THE OLD WAYS ARE BACK,THE OLD WAYS ARE BACK,THE OLD WAYS ARE BACK."

I think that this piece of writing shows that the townsfolk believed and trusted Old Granny even though she appears to be a bit crazy or drunk!
So far I have found this book to be a bit out of control because there is a lot going on. The townsfolk appear to be a bit dumb and I am not sure if Runtus is real!

How to write a proper letter by Brock

In Room 7 we are learning to write proper letters. Later this week we are interviewing Mrs Keenan, she writes the letters for Koputaroa school . So far we have learnt to send out and end our letter .
